Boonie Hat M90K Desert

Inspired by the legendary jungle and desert hats used by U.S. Navy SEALs and Underwater Demolition Teams (UDT) during the 1960s and 1970s, the Boonie Hat M90K Desert is TAC-UP GEAR's modern interpretation of a proven military classic.

Developed exclusively by TAC-UP GEAR, this hat blends vintage military styling with practical features for today's tactical, hunting, and outdoor environments. The result is a lightweight, highly packable boonie hat with an aggressive, purpose-built appearance and outstanding field performance.

Constructed from durable cotton-rich ripstop fabric, the hat is exceptionally soft and flexible, allowing it to be folded flat and carried easily in a cargo pocket or backpack. An adjustable chin strap keeps it securely in place during strong winds, while sewn ventilation eyelets promote airflow to help keep your head cool in hot climates.

The brim is slightly shorter than that of the standard Swedish Armed Forces boonie hat, creating a more compact profile with improved mobility through dense vegetation. The front brim can be secured in the raised position using the integrated button, helping to keep camouflage netting or a mosquito head net away from the face while also allowing for different wearing styles.

Finished in authentic Swedish M90K Desert camouflage with an Anti-IR (Infrared Resistant) print, the fabric is factory-treated with Permethrin, an insect repellent widely used on military uniforms and outdoor equipment to help reduce the risk of insect bites in environments where biting insects are common.

Important Information

The Permethrin treatment is clearly identified in the product description and on the product hangtag.

Under normal washing conditions (20–25°C), the treatment remains effective for up to approximately 70 washes. Washing at higher temperatures, such as 60°C, will significantly reduce its lifespan.

Permethrin is widely used on military clothing, outdoor garments, and mosquito nets to help repel biting insects.
